On Thursday 26th September we are taking part in National Manufacturing Day 2024. The theme for NMD2024 is “Opening doors for future makers”. To celebrate this, we’ve pledged to open the doors of DriveWorks HQ to showcase how technology is transforming manufacturing.
National Manufacturing Day 2024
National Manufacturing Day is a chance for UK manufacturers and associated businesses to give their local schools and colleges behind the scenes access to a sector of global importance that plays a key role in the economic life of local communities across the UK.
Many manufacturers are facing a labour shortage and struggle to recruit staff with the skills needed to grow their business. This is compounded by an outdated perception of manufacturing that means less young people consider a career in manufacturing as an attractive option. National Manufacturing Day presents a real opportunity for businesses to work with local educators to inspire and recruit local talent and showcase modern manufacturing and manufacturing technology.
Inspiring The Next Generation
To celebrate the day, we’re inviting STEM students and educators to learn about some of the lesser-known, but very exciting, career opportunities available in the manufacturing industry. They’ll have the opportunity to explore our technology, meet our customers and take part in a Q&A session with our apprentices and recent graduates.
Our event is invitation-only but if you work in a local school or college and would like to take part then please get in touch.
Proud To Be Part of National Manufacturing Day 2024
According to the latest stats from Make UK, manufacturing contributes £217 billion to UK output and accounts for nearly half of the UK’s total exports. DriveWorks design automation and 3D configurator technology is used by manufacturers all over the world to design, sell, and manufacture complex custom products and improve the buyer experience.
Earlier this year, DriveWorks VP and Co-Founder, Maria Sarkar, was awarded an MBE for her services to manufacturing. Glen Smith, our CEO, is a Mechanical Engineer and automation enthusiast. They are both passionate advocates of careers in STEM and will be speaking at our event about their commitment to giving back to the community as business leaders, as Department for Business & Trade (DBT) Export Champions, and through STEM, networking, and learning initiatives.
