After the Opening Ceremony of the Commonwealth Games last night, there is a lot of talk about the baton and the delay it caused. You may have heard all of this talk but did you know that part of the Commonwealth Queen’s Baton was actually printed on a 3D printer?
The titanium part of the baton that you can see in the picture above was created using cutting edge 3D printing techniques and titanium powder. You can find out more about the production process and even watch a video of the steps from idea to completion on the BBC News website.
