DriveWorksXpress is the free design automation tool used by many engineers around the world. You’ll find it in every seat of SolidWorks. However if you have used Xpress and find that you would like MORE design automation / configurator functionality, you can download DriveWorks Solo and try it out – at zero cost. You can even use some of our own completed DriveWorks Solo sample projects to help you explore the additional functionality.
One of our newest DriveWorks Solo Sample projects, a Solar panel assembly, demonstrates a number of DriveWorks Solo features that you won’t find in DriveWorksXpress. Configure your Solar panel using the DriveWorks Solo form that will appear in the SolidWorks task pane.
The forms show off the added Form Designer capability that you get with DriveWorks Solo and are quite graphic and easy to fill out. DriveWorks Solo is great when it comes to performing calculations in the background too and this example shows the expected BTU energy output based on the size of the panel.
And because you can look up value in tables in DriveWorks Solo, we have also used the project to show how you can display relevant pricing (US dollar, GB Pound or Euro) based on the country entered.
When you run the project, DriveWorks Solo will automatically generate all the parts, assemblies and drawings – saving lots of time!
