In August 2017, we started fundraising to have a life saving public access defibrillator installed on our site. We needed to raise £2000 and we’ve just reached that target!
Our Fundraising Efforts
We kicked off our fundraising in August 2017 with a bake sale. An afternoon of cakes was a brilliant way to start the fundraising and we raised £450, which DriveWorks then doubled to £900.
With £1100 left to raise, we set ourselves a goal of doing so over the next 12 months.
In October we held a Halloween party to give our Defibrillator Fund a boost. We wore our best Halloween costumes and had a pumpkin carving competition. The party raised over £400!
We’ve had the collection pots around our offices for the past year collecting loose change (some DriveWorks World delegates were even kind enough to donate too!). We also let one of our onsite neighbours use our meeting room for a day to raise some more funds.
At the beginning of this year we had £475 left to raise and after last year’s successful bake sale (even in the rain!) we planned another one…
This Year’s Bake Sale
In the days leading up to the bake sale last week, the DriveWorks team were very busy baking, gathering raffle prizes and building gazebos.
We’re having a rare heatwave here in the UK so the weather was the complete opposite of last year’s rain! We were all very pleased to enjoy the cakes in the sunshine this year, even if it did mean some cakes were melting!
We were joined again by friends and family, our Laskey Lane neighbours, as well as residents from Cheshire Grange, who all enjoyed tours of the beautiful gardens of Howard and Wendy Platt.
This year’s bake sale was another great success and we raised over £500!
A huge thank you to everyone who helped us achieve this. We had so many donations and lots of people joined us on the day to enjoy the cakes!
We had some amazing raffle prizes, very kindly donated by local companies. Thank you very much to everyone who supported our fundraising!
Here’s what we had up for grabs…
An overnight stay for two at the Park Royal Hotel.
A necklace and earrings set from Jewellery Sparkles.
Dinner for two at the Verve Grill at the Village Hotel.
Two-course meal for two people at the Little Manor.
There was also a 3D printer pen and a selection of American candy to be won!
And if all of that wasn’t enough, we also had a huge selection of wine, beer, spirits, games, toiletries, candles and more, all donated by the DriveWorks team and our Laskey Lane neighbours.
